Azep is azelastine HCl (aka Astelin) is used for the prevention and treatment of allergic rhinitis. It acts within 15 minutes and lasts for up to 12 hours. Most tablets take up to 1-2 hours for relief. Azep (Astelin) acts locally, for immediate relief and works right on site to target all the symptoms of hayfever – including running nose, sneezing, itching or blocked nose, itchy eyes and watery eyes. Azep (Astelin) has antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties to treat total hayfever symptom complex. Azep (Astelin) is not a preventer nasal treatment ( like steroid sprays) so does not need to be used every day, oir when you do not have symptoms.

Azep is the right treatment for you if you suffer from acute hayfever symptoms or you want faster relief than when using antihistamine tablets (AZEP® HAYFEVER RELIEF works in 15 minutes) or you have still got acute symptoms even when using antihistamine tablets or steroid sprays.

DOSAGE:
Adults and children over 5 years: spray 1 puff into each nostril twice daily.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:
Azelastine Hydrochloride 0.1% w/v. Each 10ml pack contains 70 doses.

WARNINGS/CAUTIONS:
However, as with any medication, AZEP Nasal Spray may cause side effects in some patients. For adults and children 12 years and older with seasonal allergic rhinitis or nonallergic vasomotor rhinitis, bitter taste, headache, somnolence, nasal burning and rhinitis are the most commonly reported adverse events.
However, in large patient studies, the discontinuation rates (2.2%) due to adverse events while taking AZEP® Nasal Spray were not significantly different than those for placebo (2.8%).

Other adverse events that occurred in seasonal allergic rhinitis patients 5 to 11 years of age treated with AZEP® Nasal Spray and that were not similarly represented in the adult population include rhinitis/cold symptoms, cough, and conjunctivitis.

Since some patients may experience drowsiness, use of alcohol or other central nervous system (CNS) depressants (such as sedatives and tranquilizers) should be avoided because additional reductions in alertness and impairment of CNS performance may occur. Patients are advised to assess their individual responses to this product before engaging in any activity requiring mental alertness, such as driving a car or operating machinery.
